This Electric Vehicle Charging Policy (“EV Policy”) sets out how electric vehicles may be recharged at the Property and the responsibilities of EV owners in respect of safe charging. It forms part of our contract with you and should be read alongside our Booking Terms and Conditions and House Rules. For practical guidance on using the charger, see our EV Charger page.

1. Definitions
1.1 Terms used in this EV Policy which are defined in our Booking Terms and Conditions shall have the same meanings here.
1.2 For the purpose of this EV Policy, an Electric Vehicle (EV) is any vehicle that uses electric motors, either fully or partially, to drive its wheels and derives some or all of its power from rechargeable batteries requiring connection to the electricity grid (plug-in). This includes fully electric and plug-in hybrid cars, motorbikes, scooters, mopeds and bicycles.
1.3 A Dedicated Charging Point (DCP) is the purpose-built EV charging point installed at the Property.
2. Who This Policy Applies To
2.1 This EV Policy applies to all members of the Group and any pre-agreed visitors to the Property. As lead for the Group, you are responsible for making all members of your party and any visitors aware of this policy before they use the DCP.
3. Our Dedicated Charging Point
3.1 The Property has one Dedicated Charging Point located on the outside wall of the laundry room. It is a tethered 7kW Type 2 charger powered by Voltshare. A charging cable is provided; you do not need to bring your own.
3.2 Usage is charged via the Voltshare website or app at the rates set out below. Rates are subject to change.
- Off-peak (all hours except 4-7pm daily): 54p per kWh
- Peak (4-7pm daily): 96p per kWh
To start a session, scan the QR code on the unit. Full instructions are in the digital welcome guide.
3.3 The DCP is shared between both cottages and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. You must move your vehicle promptly once charging is complete and not occupy the charging space unnecessarily.
3.4 The DCP is exclusively for the use of the Group, our staff and approved contractors. Visitors to the Property who do not form part of the Group are not permitted to use the DCP without our express prior permission.
3.5 You must not use the DCP for any commercial electric vehicle, including taxis, ridesharing vehicles (such as Uber or Lyft), delivery vehicles or any other vehicle used for commercial purposes.
3.6 You must not use any splitting cables, adaptors not supplied by us, or modify the DCP in any way.
3.7 You must not smoke in the vicinity of the DCP.
3.8 We do not guarantee the availability of the DCP at all times. Unavailability of the DCP shall not constitute a breach of our contract with you.
3.9 We reserve the right to withdraw the DCP facility at any time and for any reason.
3.10 Use of the DCP is at your own risk. We do not accept liability for any loss or damage to your vehicle resulting from use of the DCP, unless caused directly by our negligence.
3.11 You are responsible for any damage caused to the DCP or any loss suffered by us as a result of your use of it.
4. Domestic Chargers Are Not Permitted
4.1 Most electric vehicles are supplied with a domestic charger, commonly known as a “granny charger” or “trickle charger.” These cables recharge an EV via a standard domestic 3-pin wall socket.
4.2 For insurance and fire safety reasons, the use of domestic 3-pin trickle chargers running from any socket inside or outside the Property is strictly prohibited.
4.3 Use of a domestic charger at the Property will invalidate our insurance and creates a significant fire hazard. If you are found to be using one, we reserve the right to cancel your Booking with immediate effect without refund.
4.4 We reserve the right to carry out reasonable inspection of the Property, without prior notice, to ensure that domestic chargers are not in use.
4.5 You are solely liable for any damage or loss suffered by us as a result of your unauthorised use of a domestic charger.
